How to use artificial intelligence to tag and keyword photos for better organization
Computational photography technologies aim to automate tasks that are time-consuming or uninspiring: Adjusting the lighting in a scene, replacing a flat sky, culling hundreds of similar photos. But for a lot of photographers, assigning keywords and writing text descriptions makes those actions seem thrilling. When we look at a photo, the image is supposed to speak for itself. We work with libraries of thousands of digital images, so there's no guarantee that a particular photo will rise to the surface when we're scanning through screenfuls of thumbnails. I can't overemphasize the advantages of applying keywords to images.

After a long absence, Intel's 12th-gen Core i9-12900K and its hybrid design puts Intel back on top in desktop CPUs while offering next-generation technology and a big surprise: relatively good value over Ryzen. Everyone likes redemption stories, and Intel's 12th gen Core i9-12900K is a comeback story for the ages. The once mighty and complacent champ was defeated years ago, forced through one humiliating loss after another at the hands of AMD's resurgent Ryzen processors, until finally somehow finding a way back to fighting form and claiming victory once again. Life (and technology) never has that Hollywood ending, but Intel's Core i9-12900K gets pretty damned close. After years of being pummeled by AMD processors, the 12900K's performance makes it the far better CPU for most people than its bitter rival, the Ryzen 9 5950X. No, it's not a knock-out victory by any means, but considering where it excels and the features it packs, Intel's 12th-gen "Alder Lake" processor is the CPU to buy today if you're in the market for a high-end desktop processor. That alone is a huge deal; after spending over half a decade mired on 14nm transistor technology, Alder Lake finally leaps up a node. Adobe adds AI-powered masking tools to Lightroom
Adobe has revealed some new masking upgrades that are coming to Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera Raw (or ACR, Photoshop's raw photo processing tool). The company calls it the "biggest change to providing control over selectively enhancing photos" since it released Lightroom 2 in 2008. The Adobe Research team wanted to bring AI-powered selection tools such as Select Subject and Sky Replacement from Photoshop into Lightroom and ACR, but the image processing engine used in the latter two was incompatible. The team had to make some big changes under the hood, which gave it a chance to change how selections are handled in Lightroom. Until now, ACR, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic have only supported vector-based selections (which are recorded as mathematical expressions), but the AI-powered masks need bitmap (or image-based) support. So, to bring the AI-based tools to those apps, Adobe had to make both approaches work together.
How Adobe's Sensei AI enhances Lightroom CC
Adobe is rather proud of its Sensei Artificial Intelligence (AI), as it continues to leverage it through its Creative Cloud ecosystem. The company just released more updates to Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic photo editing applications. The Enhanced Details algorithm is new to the Lightroom family and Adobe Camera raw. The AI is enhanced to look closer at the pixel level and allow you to increase resolution by 30%. This provides much better overall detail as well as a better color rendering of your images.
